Later, he furthered his education by receiving his master’s degree in social work from WVU of Charleston in 2002. Harvey also obtained his license in Ohio and can see Ohio patients via telehealth. Upon the completion of his master’s degree, he began his professional career working as a therapist at a community crisis stabilization unit for children, adolescents, and adults. He remained in this role for the next four years before moving into private practice. Here, he provided mental health services to individuals, couples, and families aged 6 and above. He proceeded from private practice to working in an inpatient hospital in the behavioral health unit for ages 18 and above. Harvey then returned to working for private facilities providing therapy services. He then began offering treatment services at a federally qualified health center, where he remained for a year and a half, working with individuals, couples, and families. He joined Integrated Health Centers of West Virginia as a behavioral health therapist in late 2024. Harvey works with individuals, couples, and families, primarily with adults aged 18 and above, as well as children and adolescents on a limited basis. He works with his patients to cope with and manage all sorts of mental health disorders, anger management, and behavior problems, and helps couples and families. He also encourages patients who are interested in looking into a good spiritual relationship if they don’t already have one, “because God is the Great Physician,” by offering faith-based treatment. In his free time, Harvey enjoys reading his Bible and other scripture-related books, listening to lessons on videos, and spending time with his wife of nearly 44 years. They enjoy traveling to places they have never been and taking long weekends to do things together. He and his wife have 3 grown children and 8 grandchildren ranging in age from 20 to 7. He enjoys being outdoors, working in the raised gardens and flower gardens, and just being out in nature. He enjoys hanging out with his special needs puppy, which he and his wife recently adopted from the shelter in Parkersburg, named Lucky. |
