5K Race – “Stepping on Hunger”
Every year, on the first Saturday of August, IHCWV facilitates a 5K race in Harrisville, WV. Given that WV experiences a food insecurity rate of 15.3%, and that roughly one in six individuals faces hunger in the communities we serve, we decided to race for a cause and came up with the name “Stepping on Hunger.” All race proceeds and donated non-perishable food items are given to local food pantries and families in need.
2024 was Stepping on Hunger’s third consecutive year. We are proud to have raised over $20,000 to help combat hunger. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without our sponsors and the support of the community.

Halloween Health Fest
Who says learning about health education and community resources can’t be fun?! We hosted our first Halloween Health Fest in 2023, centering around family fun and inviting community members, local businesses, and organizations. Activities included face painting, a bounce house, health education, resources, flu shots, games, and more!
