Pursuant to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established the COVID-19 Telehealth Program in April 2020. The Program was to provide $200 million in funding to eligible health care providers to help support telecommunications services, information services, and connected devices needed to offer critical connected care during the pandemic.
The Wireline Competition Bureau recently approved the fifth group of funding commitments under the Program and committed $42,702,383 million in funding to 68 health care providers across the Nation. To date, 348 awardees have received funding commitments totaling $208,428,464. RRHC - currently one of only four WV medical facilities to receive the award - has been granted $960,444 for the purchase of telehealth kiosks and software, to help with COVID-19 screening and primary medical care for vulnerable, low-income, and elderly patients with chronic conditions. RRHC is truly grateful for the opportunity to expand our telehealth services to be able to provide outstanding health care regardless of location.
